Pantoprazole

Pantoprazole is used to treat stomach ulcer, heartburns, acid reflux and stomach upset. Certain medications are harsh on the walls of the stomach, pantoprazole can be given together to help protect your stomach walls.

Acid (hydrochloric acid) in the stomach aids in the digestion of food. Pantoprazole blocks proteins (acid pump) that produce acid in the stomach. This reduces excess stomach acid which is responsible for reflux, heartburns and pains in ulcer.

You may experience:

  • Headaches

  • Flatulence

  • Stomach pain

  • Constipation

  • Diarrhea

You may eat normally while using pantoprazole .

You shouldn’t take alcohol as it can worsen your tummy pains.

If you forget to take your prescription, take it as soon as you remember.

If you miss a dose, don’t take a double dose.

If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and take the next one.

You may feel dizzy when on pantoprazole. You shouldn’t be driving and operating machinery if your experience this side-effect when using pantoprazole.

Omeprazole isn’t addictive.

Pantoprazole has not been shown to affect sexual performance, fertility or contraceptives.

It may not be safe to use pantoprazole when pregnant or breastfeeding. You shouldn’t use pantoprazole without a prescription.
