The thyroid is an organ that produces hormones and located in the neck region. The hormones produced by the thyroid control your temperature, heart rate, brain development, and other important body functions.
The thyroid gland requires iodine for its normal function. Carmbimazole is converted to methimazole in the body and disrupts the processing of iodine needed for use by the thyroid.
You may experience:
Dizziness
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Nausea
Itchy skin
Thinning hair
Painful joints
Yellow coloration of palms and white of eyes
You may eat normally while taking carbimazole.
Excess iodine is not recommended if you are treating an overactive thyroid. It is advisable to adopt a low iodine diet, such as avoiding cheese, eggs, and processed foods.
Alcohol can worsen dizzy side effects. Alcohol also worsens high blood pressure. Consumption of alcohol is therefore not recommended.
If you forget to take your prescription, take it as soon as you remember.

Carbimazole does not affect the effectiveness of contraceptives, fertility or sexual function.
